Ampullary
The ampullary portion of the fallopian tube is the most common site for an ectopic pregnancy.
Ampullary ectopic pregnancies often grow outside the central (inner) lumen of the fallopian tube. Therefore, surgical treatment may simply involve opening the serosa (outer sheath) of the tube and removing the pregnancy (and clots), which may spare the lumen of the tube. This often allows the surgeon to conserve (save) the tube.
